With so much behind us now, and something finally released, where does JuiceBoxFactory go from here?
Before we get into whats up with Computer Shrilow, JuiceBoxFactory, and our Future Projects, we've made some site updates, and other bits of info!
First of all, we have updated the Games Page to include new content on the Computer Shrilow Page, and the Team Page!
The Team Page now includes The Main Team, Primary Contributers, and Secondary Contributers!
Aswell as this, I wanted to officially annouce our discord (though, you've prolly found it by now if you're here.) we post teasers, interact with the community, and also might start a minecraft server LOL so if you wanna join, please do! we also have a tag which is coolsauce yes!

These two updates will be primarily to touch up some things i want in the game before The FUN Update (The Game's first major update). Theres two of them, Spring-Cleaning and Holiday-Spirit, which i'll explain briefly below! (the one for Holiday Spirit is less fleshed out...)

This update is done with the intent of getting out some much needed changes and improvements sooner rather than later!
The Original intent was to pack this stuff and the stuff in Holiday Spirit with The FUN Update, but i've decided i wanna bring these changes to you all now.

Computer Shrilow still has alot in store for you! Officially Introducing... The FUN Update! The game's first MAJOR update!

- The Jelly Mixer

And SO MUCH MORE (like.. seriously.. its gonna be double the content of base) that I cant talk about!
I'm so excited to get fun update out to you all, it's gonna be awesome!
The MINES Specifically are going to go through a major rework, it's going to change its system and introduce a NEW shopkeeper! Who will be revealed at a later date...
Mines will still be able to scale to their original scale (and further!), but will have a slight difference with how you buy and upgrade them, as well as changing how the miners work abit, allowing some of the frequently unused Miners to be made useful...
The Jellies are also going to be getting their own slight overhaul, The Jelly Mixer!
The Jelly Mixer is another default room for The Daycare that allows you to merge together two jellies to get even better jellies, some unique, and some just "procedurally" generated through an internal system.
It'll finally be possible to
I dont wanna go too far in depth about whats happening, I wanna keep yall guessing! but expect more info as time progresses!
On the internal, I want to optimize the game further! Jellies espesically CAN have optimization issues, and I'd like to see what I can do about that to allow more people to experience the game at a smooth pace!
We're also going to be switching the rendering engine! This may cause issues for people on lower end devices, so the pre-fun update version will also be avaliable when opening the game!
It's unlikely you'll notice changes in the main game, but in a certain late-game section, the expanse may prove bigger...
Many people have asked me what is next in store for JuiceBoxFactory, so I'd love to let you in on some stuff we're planning!
We have many MANY projects planned for the future, but theres one in particular (and, the next one we intend to release) that i'd like to discuss...
Introducing...
NEXT FLOOR is a Movement Roguelike about going through floors, completing tasks, and evading NEXTBOTS (get it?), all to bring more resources back to your homebase at Floor 0. The game centers around fast movement and cool feeling tech, while still trying to make sure it stays simple enough for anyone to pick up! low skill floor, high skill ceiling!
Regarding its Gameplay, its got alot of unique things that I havent seen many games do! first off..
Shops in Next Floor show up every few floors, and contain Items aswell as TECH! In Next Floor, you build upon your Tech throughout the run, unlocking new options and new things to combo together for more STYLE POINTS, which i'll get to...
The base moveset is powerful enough to get you through the game if you so choose, but getting more Tech will allow you to get further easier!
You'll have a limited amount of tech slots, so you'll need to pick and choose wisely what you'll keep!
Also, the Shops are ran by PENELOPE! Who you can see at the top of this section!
More about her at the bottom, if you're curious!
The Floors are picked from a pool of map options, they each have different objectives required to complete them and then progress to the Next Floor! (get it??? arent I creative??? dont answer that.) You'll have a limited amount of time to complete the objectives on the floor, or you'll be chased by... something else.
However, some floors will be BOSS FLOORS, which have some kind of special challenge compared to the average floor; More challenging, but Fun! And a good way to spice up gameplay even further.
You'll be able to see information about the NextBots as you unlock achievements related to them, it could be as easy as having encountered them, or as hard as PARRYING them, speaking of...
One of the mechanics, and also the one I will be primarily talking about, is the STYLE BAR! Think ultrakill's rating system, aswell as STYLE POINTS!
This system isnt JUST for show, it has a practical use aswell!
STYLE POINTS will not only fill up your STYLE BAR, but will also charge up your PARRY!
PARRYs were a touchy topic when developing this game, as we wanted to focus on the evading and using your movement aspect of the game, but our solution to this was exactly what I said prior, the PARRY meter!
To PARRY in this game, you'll be required to have filled up your PARRY meter with STYLE POINTS, everytime its filled, you'll be able to use a PARRY! Encouraging you to use more Tech for more Points to PARRY, allowing you to PARRY and still have to actually play the game, since we didnt want PARRYing to be the end-all-be-all for any encounter, you still gotta know your shit!
The World of Next Floor as we see it, takes place in a seemingly infinite complex of sorts ENTIRELY overrun by NextBots. You find yourself in Floor 0, a civilization of people who are managing their state quite well, ran by Dr. Samsong! a LITERAL sound wave who just seemed weirdly fitting for the job. You are assigned the role of Resource Runner, meaning you must enter the Elevator to do supply runs; respawning by the "toolgun" everytime you die, taking your found resources with you.
Dodge and Weave, and you'll be able to help the community of Floor 0 Prosper!
Penelope is an ex-resource runner (which is your job, now!) Penelope lives for the adrenaline, and is responsible for making the STYLE METER, it was her idea! She runs the Shops now per-request of Dr. Samsong, (mentioned below) She was highly skilled at her job, and frequently fucked up any NextBots who tried her. She only quit per-request of Dr. Samsong once more, as Samsong "Seen Potentional in You". Now she's here to help you learn the ropes!
Dr. Samsong is a soundwave who helps you along your journey! Samsong wishes for nothing more than to see you reach your full potentional, and will help you in any way they can! Working with Penelope to give you tutorials throughout your time, and encouraging you to keep going!
When displayed in spectrogram, Samsong takes the appearance of a blue bunny with square glasses and a labcoat.
Theres SO much more to say about this game, but for now, I'm gonna leave it to you to find out once it releases!
To end off our first newsletter, I wanna talk about the history of JBF!
Its been a ride! JuiceBoxFactory began October 28th 2021, originally as a group dedicated to stupid friend projects and a card game named "CyberCards", but we've moved far past that now!
Funnily enough, we almost didnt settle on JuiceBoxFactory as the name! the other name option was "Neon Petal Arts".. I'm quite glad we made the choice we did.
(covered person is an ex-team member, covered for privacy!)
Probably the best decision I could've made
Did some digging, and managed to find some old JuiceBoxFactory stuff! this is all 2021 and early 2022, so enjoy my misunderstandings of graphic design!
(Look guys, It's greasepuppy! from Computer Shrilow! wow! they've existed awhile.)
(Yeah, we were gonna have a launcher for our games rather than using Steam or Itch.io! dont ask me why, it wasnt my idea.)
(MeltyKelpy please get better at menu design)
(Intereting Idea, weird execution)
(not awful)
(its missing one, but i cant freaking find it)
man
Menu Music for CyberCards LMAO
And lastly something intended to never show a soul,
My OLD Website (Contextual Comics)
JuiceBoxFactory has been a crazy addition to my life, so much has happened and spawned from it and im absolutely overjoyed to have made something people enjoy!
The plan is to keep making shit, so dont expect a lack of content anytime soon!
oh my god its the duck
